Yes, finally erotic fiction for a thinking woman!What makes this book stand out in a crowded field of female erotica is an interesting plot complete with the freeing of one female soul from a bad marriage and the subsequent courageous rise to love, freedom and liberation. The sex scenes are super hot and believable… but made even sexier by fully articulated characters. This is erotic fiction for the thinking woman. Give us more, Ms. Battle!

Bravo!Awake isn’t is one of those bodice-ripping paperbacks your grandma used to exchange with her galpals at the hairdressers. Anna Battle creates complicated characters sorting through things we all go through. Bravo on creating a romance story that succeeds on multiple levels, including as a sexy novel about real, grownup people figuring out who they are and how to be happy.

“Awake” is a new kind of romance novel with emotionally deep characters who are living relatable, complex (messy) lives. Lori is working hard to navigate the post-divorce world, trying to understand who she is as a woman, as a mother and, eventually, as a lover, and what she needs to live an authentically happy life after losing parts of herself in a dying marriage. But this isn’t a tale about a sad suburban divorced mama. Lori’s exploration of her evolving sexual needs through her rekindled relationship with her childhood sweetheart is red hot. This also isn’t one of those bodice-ripping paperbacks your grandma used to exchange with her galpals at the hairdressers. Anna Battle creates complicated characters sorting through things we all go through. This novel is for mature audiences, sure, but not simply because of the sex. Don’t get me wrong, the sex is plenty hot, but behind the adult material is a rich and powerful adult love story.
Anna Battle’s AWAKE is no cartoon tale of some cardboard cutout Cinderella meeting some cardboard cutout Prince Charming on the speedway to some unidimensional happy ever after. This story is a real life love story, of the dynamic intersections in the lives of two intelligent, talented, complicated individuals, who meet briefly but meaningfully in their youth, but go on to live wholly separate lives. Each encounters many a storm along their respective journeys, until one day, in middle age, they find one another again, and find both a passion and a peace in each other’s arms that neither has ever known. Even then, as so often happens in the real world, their road is not an easy one…
